This is the second of many ”Sweet Inspirations” posts. Every week I’d like to feature a story that hopefully will inspire, enlighten and give us that overall warm, fuzzy feeling. If you have a story or know of someone doing something good, send us an email at PartyPatisserie@gmail.com.
This week, I’m so happy to share the story of two young women who are working to cure cancer, one cupcake at a time.
Kathryn Pekarik was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins T-cell Lymphoma in May of 2010. Later that year, Kathryn’s sister Laura baked 250 cupcakes to sell at a benefit held in Kathryn’s honor. The cupcakes were such a big success that the two sisters launched Cupcakes for Courage, a cupcake truck that delivers tasty cupcakes around the Chicago area.

A percentage of the proceeds from the sales go to cancer research and the Ride Janie Ride foundation. Laura and Kathryn sell about 100-200 cupcakes a day.
If you’re in the Chicago area and would like to buy a cupcake, keep an eye out for the bright green truck! You can keep track of the truck’s whereabouts on the Cupcakes for Courage website, as well as on Twitter and Facebook.
