Vera Bradley Baby Launch

Today’s post is for all our little party people,  babies that is!  I was so excited to be invited by Kim from The TomKat Studio and Kelly from The Party Dress to the launch party of  the Vera Bradley Baby line.

Kim partnered with Vera Bradley to promote Vera Bradley Baby’s new line and asked a few party people to host events simultaneously with the New York store on Thursday evening.

This event was at the Deer Park, Illinois store and the hostess for the evening was Kelly Lyden, (on the left). Kelly styles amazing parties and  was so gracious to invite me, (on right),  to join in the fun.  Kelly is just adorable and it was so nice to meet her in person

After being greeted by Kelly when we arrived  we received a sweet little gift bag from Vera Bradley with the cutest little stockings from the line. What a way to begin the evening!

There was a lot of excitement in the store as everyone browsed.

Want to take a look-sie at the beautiful displays that were set- up through out the store?

These soft little bunnies were sweet in the darling Daisy Tote.  Love the size and the beautiful colors, don’t you?

Not sure what I like better, the bunnies or the tote.  Decisions, decisions!

I’m thinking great Easter basket alternative:)

The onesies were just too sweet!  You can’t see it here, but the backside, to put it politely, is all ruffles. Yes, we love the ruffles!

And the little shoes ,with the tiny white bows, are probably one of my favorite items! (sitting on the pink box)

The teddy bears were just as cuddly as the bunnies.  Oh no, which to choose!

Bunnies, bunnies everywhere!

I  immediately fell in love with these sweet bath towels. Did I mention they were incredibly soft too?

Blankets, towels, bibs, oh my!

After shopping for a while, all the guests were gathered to play some bingo and win a gorgeous tote.

No, I wasn’t the lucky winner, but I didn’t walk out empty handed either.

I was having too much fun shopping and the timing was perfect since I’m going to a baby shower this weekend.

my gifts

I did pretty good with the onesie, shoes, towel, socks and bunny & bear book.

By the way, each item is packaged in colorful boxes that look like little pieces of furniture.

my purchase

Doesn’t my purchase look adorable all wrapped up in the colorful bunny gift bag?

I think so too! Can’t wait to give it to the mama- to- be!

This was such a fun evening and us party girls (Sue on right) were so happy we could be a part of it!

Happy New Year and a Look-Back at 2012

I’d like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year and hope your holidays were fun and restful!

I hosted Christmas Day again this year for my 24 family members, (my family of 5, my three sisters and their families and my beloved mom. Sadly, my brother and his family couldn’t join us). The days just seemed to fly by with the many preparations, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. We always have so much fun when we all get together. I’m always busy with so many projects that I never take time for pictures. Have to make it a point of taking them from now on.

Sorry I haven’t been posting, but I did enjoy some great time with my kids and hubby and even managed to catch a few winks in between.

Well, it’s 2013 and time for a look back over 2012.

I started this blog just a little over a year ago with the idea of sharing  a little cooking, baking, sewing, partying, DIY’s and whatever else I thought of. Didn’t really have a major plan.

In the mist of finding my voice and my way through this amazing blogging world, I ‘ve had some fun along the way.

My first party submission was my Polka Dot Halloween Party which was featured on The Party Wagon’s blog.  I was so excited! This party was loaded with lots of DIY’s from licorice trees, to tissue paper flowers, burlap banner (my Etsy shop) to fondant ghosts, handmade invites to homemade cupcakes, treat bags from my Etsy shop and more.

Lots of work but loads of fun. I was so thrilled and happy to share it on such a fun party blog. Thank you Party Wagon for featuring us!!!

In December,  Celebrations.com surprised me by choosing my Christmas Cup Cozies DIY as their favorite craft of the year.  I’m thinking, are you kidding me, with their 18,000 plus fans it was a real honor to be chosen!  I even got the honor of having a whole week devoted to Party Patisserie on their site.  Thank you again Celebrations.com!!!

In January, one of my long time dreams came true. I received an invitation to attend  Martha Stewart’s Dreamers Into Doers Event in New York City for women entrepreneurs, and attend her live television show.

I could hardly wait for March when the event would take place.

In the meantime lots to do to get ready for it.

We were asked if we’d like to contribute to the swag bags her staff was putting together for all us Dreamers attending.

(I had an assembly line going) Do you like my business cards?

I happily sewed 100 party bags, wrapped 100 chocolate truffles, packaged 100 rock candy suckers, tied 400 bows and folded 100 pieces of tissue. All before stuffing each bag perfectly.

Ta Da!  I was really happy with the way my party bags turned out.

Seeing Martha, (she’s gorgeous by the way),  her staff, offices, television show and networking with all the other Dreamers was absolutely wonderful and won’t soon be forgotten!

That’s me, in the pink jacket and black slacks, in the studio audience of the show. When we went live we were instructed to smile and clap. I don’t know if you can tell, but, right at that moment  I started to get overcome with the reality of where I was and how grateful I was to be there that my eyes started to well up. Yep,  just as the camera was panning the audience. Great timing, right? That’s so me.

My hubby came along and did a little business and sightseeing during the days while I attended the events. We extended the trip by a couple of days to shop the fashion district and shop for supplies for my business. Yipee!

We had such a wonderful time together. I recommend it!

Celebrations.com surprised me again when they contacted me to feature my Marilyn Monroe Inspired Prom Party. Again what a honor to be on their fun and inspiring site. Many thanks Celebrations.com.!!!

I submitted this same party to Amy Atlas and within a few hours of them receiving it they contacted me and wanted to feature it. I was absolutely thrilled but when they asked if I had posted it on my blog (which I had) they no longer would feature it.  I wasn’t aware that you cannot put it up on your own blog until they feature it first. Tough lesson! Oh well. still thrilled they wanted it:)

In October,  Babble.com choose my Witches’ Legs Tulle Wreath DIY to feature on their amazing blog. Huge surprise! Have you seen their site?  It’s packed full of great inspiration!  What an honor! Thanks Babble and all your visitors!!!

You’re the best!

Party Patisserie was thrilled and honored again to be voted in 6th place in the Circle of Moms Top 25 Party Blogs.

That would not have been possible without the votes from all of our amazing fans:):):)

Thank You All so very much for your support!!! And thank you Circle of Moms for all the wonderful exposure and opportunities you have provided Party Patisserie!!! It’s so much fun being a part of your wonderful community!

Another wonderful opportunity was afforded me when I was contacted by Darcy Miller, Editorial Director of Martha Stewart Weddings Magazine and Celebrations Expert.

Yep, that’s right, she contacted me. Scream!

Click here for the full interview.

She called me this summer and I was thrilled to talk with her about her new Daisy Party Collection on OpenSky and her tips on throwing great parties.  Darcy told me about a few parties she threw for Martha Stewart and Dylan Lauren of Dylan’s Candy Store. Darcy is so down to earth and easy to talk to. I feel like we’re friends now.

Thank you Darcy for taking time out of your busy schedule for the interview!!!

You are so very talented and a true delight!

I opened my Etsy Party Supplies Shop this year (even though it says 2011). I just started adding goods to the shop and it took off over Christmas.  Thank you so much for supporting the shop and please continue to watch us grow as I add unique and fun party items. I just love to create and have lots of great ideas for 2013.

I would love your help in spreading the word. Pin what you love! Thanks:)

And lastly, earlier this year I worked with the ladies of LaunchHER to secure a TradeMark   for Party Patisserie. We  are accepted and now a registered trademark. YAY!

Thank you Kara and Tracy!

I would be remiss if I didn’t express my thank you’s to all the blogs and friends on facebook, pinterest, twitter who have shared our ideas and helped to introduce Party Patisserie to others.

I send my heartfelt gratitude to each one of you♥.

I am constantly amazed at all the visitors we get from all over the world. 13o some countries. I So Appreciate Every One of You and so happy you take the time out of your busy lives to visit us.  This has truly inspired me and I’m so excited and energized for 2013.

So stayed tuned!  We have lots of fun things planned ahead for Party Patisserie and want You to be a part of it.

May God Bless you and your family in this coming year!!!

{Sweet Inspiration} Keeping It Natural for the Holidays

Now, I’m a lover of the traditional red and green Christmas but sometimes I like to change it up a bit.

Here are some wonderful ideas for keeping the color palette a little more neutral.

I love this simple yet beautiful mantle idea.

via: pinterest

(there was no link for this when I posted, however, I’ve seen it before linked to a site, sorry)

Simply wrap pussy willows around a grapevine wreath and letters can be found at Hobby Lobby. Have an old picture frame?  Use part of it to form the letter L.

How simple and clever!

 PINECONE WREATH

These wreaths look great anywhere. You can use for Thanksgiving and carry it over to Christmas.

(Keep in mind for next year)

No pine trees outside to decorate?  No problem.

All you need is a tomato cage and lots of lights to wrap around it.  They look wonderful at night.

BURLAP PILLOWS

I adore Burlap fabric and it’s popularity just keeps on growing.

I made these adorable holiday BELIEVE burlap pillows and they are available in my Etsy Shop here.

{Sweet Treat} Peppermint Eggnog Milkshake Shots

Do you love peppermint?

Well, when I found this recipe for Peppermint Eggnog Milkshake Shots I knew my family would love it.

It’s just so pretty!  Isn’t it?

The DIY can be found over on Sugar & Cloth.

CHEERS!

{DIY} Pumpkin Checker Board Game

Today I have such a fun DIY for you.

When we were at the Pumpkin farm I picked up some small pumpkins figuring I would make some sort of table arrangement or use them to decorate around the house and outside with.

I also purchased a small bale of hay.

Since we spend time outside enjoying fires in the firepit it got me thinking that it might be fun to have a checkers game outside. But not any old checkers game.

Well, here’s what I came up with.

I was so excited to have all the materials I needed on hand.

Supplies include:

18 inch square piece of plywood or MDF
Long ruler & Pencil
Paint-  brown and gray  or any color you like
5 or 6 orange pumpkins
5 or 6 white pumpkins
can of clear acrylic sealer
sandpaper

Begin by lightly sanding the board to prep for painting. Wipe dust off with damp cloth.

Next, make a mark every 3 inches across all sides of the board.

Connect the marks going both ways to form a grid.

Now the fun part. Begin to paint every other square brown.

Go back and paint in the empty squares with gray paint.

After it dries, lightly sand to rub away some of the paint to give it a distressed, weathered look.

(00ps, I must have bumped the camera setting)

Add the pumpkins and your finished.

If you want to protect it from the elements since it’s outside, you can spray a coat of acrylic clear sealer on both the board and the pumpkins.  I found the little critters outside won’t touch the pumpkins once they have been sealed and they’ll last longer too.

Checkers anyone!

Amazing Work Rooms {Sweet Inspiration}

Happy Tuesday everyone!  Boy, I can’t believe how quickly our weather has changed.  It seems we were just in the extreme heat and now I’m wearing a sweatshirt.  I know there are still plenty of gorgeous days to come but it does make me think about the inevitable cold days ahead and all the projects that have been waiting all summer for me to complete.

I don’t know about you, but, with the hurried days of deadlines my work studio gets somewhat disorganized.  Okay, one would say pretty darn messy!  So, it got me thinking about organizing the space once again.

So, I went on a little hunt for some pretty and organized spaces to get inspired.

I love to use furniture and this dresser is perfect to store smaller amounts of fabric, or paints or anything really. Use a jigsaw to cut out the tops of the drawers to give a little personality, then paint.

Once again I love the use of colored furniture. Love her cabinet for a table.

Love this one!

All the boxes and containers are labeled  so nicely.  What a great room to work in, right?

Well, I hope you found a little inspiration today.  I better get busy now on my room.

SMILES!

{DIY} Napkin Flower Poms

This is such a great DIY.  I made these cute flower poms for a  Senior Prom Dessert Table.

The poms are made from napkins instead of tissue paper.   Yep, you heard me right.

When I found these adorable napkins in the soft, blush pink I needed, I was so excited!

I just love polka dots and that was what I chose for the dessert table sign (check out below).

They’re made exactly the same way as tissue poms, so super easy!

I love that there are many more options and they are more durable than tissue paper.

So let’s get started.

You can use either the dinner or the beverage size napkin.  In this case, I used the beverage size.

You’ll also need a little thin wire and some scrapbooking paper.

Open the napkin,  smooth it out and begin layering .

I stacked 8 napkins on top of each other evenly.

Begin at one end & make a one inch fold and crease well,

Turn over the stack and crease again.

Continue flipping the stack over and creasing accordian style until it is all folded.

Find the center and fasten with a small thin wire.

Begin with the top layer and gently pull the napkin forward

Continue layer by layer until it’s all filled out.  Isn’t it pretty?

I used a paper punch to make circles for the center of my flowers and  attached with a puff dot.

And there you have it.   I love the way they turned out!  Don’t you?

To see the whole dessert table, click here.

Who knew napkins could be so much fun!
