Strawberry Milkshakes

February 4, 2014 by Party Patisserie Filed Under: Cook 8 Comments

Happy Sweet Treat Tuesday! I just love Valentine’s Day! Actually for me, it’s not just Valentine’s Day itself that I like to celebrate but the few weeks leading up to the 14th as well.

Surprising my family with some kind of treat or dessert after dinner is always fun.

While we all love chocolate in this house, today I took a break from it.  I decided to make Strawberry Milkshakes. Yes I know it’s winter but shakes are great anytime of year I think.

When you don’t have a lot of time to prepare, milkshakes are great option for dessert. We usually have some kind of ice cream in the freezer and we always have milk on hand.

I’m sure you’ve all made milkshakes. It’s nothing more than just mixing ice cream and whole milk. You don’t have to use whole milk but it does make it richer. YUM!

To make them a little extra special, I made whipped cream.  Whip the heavy cream until it forms soft peaks then add some powdered sugar and beat until firm peaks form.

Place a big dollop of the whipped cream in the cup and add a few heart sprinkles.

For a little more added fun, I made flags for the straws. (You can get the flags here—for free!—and the straws here.)

You may be asking why I used coffee cups.

Drink_Me_22

Well, I just bought these cups and I really like them and they are the unexpected.  So, why not coffee cups?

I’m actually pretty happy with the way they turned out!

How fun and cute! I love the Drink Me tags on the straws. The pic of the cream reminded me that I once made ice cream and used heavy cream instead of half and half…that was the most calorie dense ice cream, but it was GOOD! hehe
