Black, White and Gold Graduation Party

May 6, 2014 by Party Patisserie Filed Under: Celebrate 40 Comments

Hello, and happy Tuesday! It’s May, and that means it’s graduation time. I was thrilled when Tiny Prints asked if I’d style a graduation party for their blog using one of their beautiful invitations.

I used this invitation as my inspiration for the black, white and gold color scheme.

People tend to come and go during graduation parties, so all of the food needed to be fun and easy. I wanted people to be able to walk around and mingle while easily enjoying the treats.

What’s more appropriate at a graduation party than giant sugar cookies shaped like caps and gowns? I had these cuties parade down steps with pomp and circumstance:

No party is complete without cupcakes! These yummy vanilla buttercream ones featured congratulatory flag printables.

Mmm, don’t you just want to take a big bite?

And when you have a lot of sweets, you’re going to want something salty. I put out boxes of popcorn that sported glittery graduation caps.

The boxes made it easy for kids to walk around with their food and munch.

But not everything at the party was black, white and gold. To add a pop of color, I filled these letter dishes with brightly colored chocolate candy. You can get these adorable dishes here.

Every graduating student is excited about what the future will bring. We offered them a glimpse with these fortune cookies adorned with colorful sugar flowers.

Aren’t they cute?

No graduation party is complete without some photo opportunities! These chocolate mustaches and bowties were perfect.

Another great way to make memories is to have guests write a short, encouraging note to the graduate. It will be fun for the grad to read the notes later, and refer to them often for some laughs and encouragement.

And now, it’s time to party! Congratulations, graduates!

How much candy did you use to fill up the number dishes? 1 lb, 2 lbs, etc. Love those dishes. Will be buying 2015 soon!

      Hi Rach!
Thank you for you comment:) It all depends on what size candy you want to use. For the number dishes I purchased a large container of colored chocolates and used about half to fill, so about a pound.
